James City County, Va. – Three people have been indicted in connection to the murder of James City County woman, Dana Patterson Mackay.
The capitol murder indictments were handed down on January 15th to John W. Mackay, Nicole M. Houchin, and Nace E. Houchin.
Police say the three suspects conspired to kill Dana Mackay for $20,000.
John Mackay, the victim’s husband and a Ft. Eustis staff sergeant, and Nicole Houchin were arrested shortly after the murder occurred.
Houchin told police that she was having an affair with John Mackay.
Nicole Houchin’s husband, Nace Houchin, was arrested in November. An officer testified that a search warrant was executed on Nace Houchin’s truck and they found a note that confessed to the homicide. Police say it was inside of a wallet that also contained Houchin’s military ID.
Dana Mackay’s body was found on July 27th, 2013 in her Teal Way home.
Officials say she was repeatedly stabbed in the face and one of her fingers was cut off.
During police interviews, John Mackay and Nicole Houchin admitted that they’d fantasized about Dana’s death according to court documents. ated:
