President Obama commutes sentences of two Hampton Roads drug offenders

NORFOLK, Va. – President Obama granted a total of 111 sentence commutations on Tuesday.

Two drug related sentences were from the Hampton Roads area.

Mancer Barrington of Norfolk was granted a commutation on his offense of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base; possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Barrington was sentenced in 2009 to life imprisonment; 10 years supervised release.

His prison sentence was commuted to a term of 180 months imprisonment.

Tony Lamont Jones of Portsmouth was granted a commutation on his offense of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a mixture or substance containing cocaine base; distribution of cocaine base.

Jones was sentenced in 1998 to life imprisonment; five years supervised release and in 2015 it was amended to 360 months imprisonment.

His prison sentence is now commuted to expire on December 28, 2016.
