WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Obama granted commutation of sentences to 42 individuals Friday, and one of them is from Hampton Roads.

Patrick Kit Plumlee, of Newport News, was incarcerated for drug offenses.

The charges included, continuing criminal enterprise; 8 counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base; use of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime; 10 counts of renting, leasing, and making premises available for storing and distributing cocaine and cocaine base and money laundering and conspiracy.

Plumlee was serving a life plus 60 months imprisonment sentence.

With Plumlee’s commutation his sentence is to expire on October 1, 2016.

President Obama has has commuted the sentences of 348 individuals to date.
