A family from Bakersfield, California is thanking their beloved cat for lending their young son one of her nine lives.
Surveillance videoshowed a dog sneaking up on 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo as he is riding a bicycle in the driveway.
Just as the dog pounces and grabs the boy’s leg, Tara the family cat appears to dart out of nowhere and chases the dog off.
The dog belongs to a neighbor.
Tara adopted the couple five years ago when she followed them home from a park. When Jeremy was a newborn, she would crawl into his crib and curl up next to him.
“To have her, with no regard for her own life, fly at the dog to protect him. I’ve never seen anything like that,” said Erica Triantafilo.
“She’s a hero!” Jeremy said.
