Watch: Physicists manipulate fire with sound waves

This flaming square is called a 2D Reubens’ Tube.

Physicists in Denmark created this large version of a 1905 invention to demonstrate how sound waves can change the shape and size of flames depending on their volume and frequency.

While the original tube is a pipe with holes in a line, this one is a square with 2,500 holes. Check out a full explanation of how it works at I F—ing Love Science.
