(Tune in now for the latest) Update: According to Virginia Beach police, a Beach mother of two who was killed allegedly by her ex-boyfriend died from strangulation.

Police are still investigating this case.

Virginia Beach, Va. – Police say 29-year-old Jamiel Graves killed his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Mandi Myers. She was a nurse and a mother of two.

Police still have not released a cause of death or where she was found in her apartment.

According to Virginia Beach police, Graves stole a car and gun from Myers’ house,  although they believe the stolen weapon wasn’t used in the murder.

Najee Walker, a neighbor, says he heard banging coming from the apartment next door on Sunday night, where Myers lived with her two young daughters.

“We thought it was her kids, just running around, we heard screaming, but not mutilation screaming,” says Walker.

The next day, he came home to police cars and crime scene tape surrounding his neighbors’ apartment, and it was then he found out someone killed her.

Walker says the noise kept him up past midnight, but he and his wife just dealt with it.

Graves, the accused ex-boyfriend, is now facing a few charges, including second degree murder.

NewsChannel 3 has also learned that Graves lived next door to a Norfolk woman who has been missing for two months.

Police say a body was found in the closet of the Ocean View duplex where Graves lived.

Officials have not identified the body.
