PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Firefighters responded to a residential fire Sunday evening.
According to officials, crews responded a fire in 4300 Block of Columbia St. at 7:46 p.m.
When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, finding fire throughout the attic space.
Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire, and one cat was rescued. No injuries were reported.
The fire was marked out around 8:30 p.m.
Currently, crews remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely out. The Portsmouth Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct an investigation on the cause of the fire.
