YORKTOWN, Va. - A body was found near a beach picnic area Tuesday afternoon.
York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office says officers responded to a call in the 600 block of Water Street around 12:03 p.m.
According to police, the body found near the shore is an African American woman who may be in her sixties.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators are working in conjunction with the FBI, National Park Service and Virginia Marine Resource Commission to identify the victim.
