VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to a house fire in Sandbridge that left four people and their three dogs without a home Saturday morning.
According to the department, the call came in at 6:36 a.m. for the fire. Crews responded to the 2900 block of Sand Bend Road, where they found heavy smoke coming from a home's carport.
All four residents exited the home safely along with their dogs. No injuries were reported, and the fire was marked under control at 7:09 a.m.
The VBFD contacted the Red Cross to assist the displaced residents.
The fire's cause is still unknown and is under investigation by the Virginia Beach Fire Marshal's Office.
