2 people displaced after Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Two adults were displaced after a fire damaged their home in the Fernwood Farms section of the city Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, one resident was home when the fire started. The resident reported hearing a “boom” from the back of the structure before the fire began.

Firefighters were called to the fire in the 300 block of Mapleshore Drive at 2:38 p.m. Arriving seven minutes later, crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of a one-story residential structure.

Chesapeake firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to battle the fire and searched the structure for any victims. The fire was brought under control at 3:16 p.m. and marked out at 3:29 p.m.

The residents are making lodging arrangements with friends and family.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
