JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. - James City County Police have recovered a missing boaters body Monday morning.
JCC Police and Fire Departments say they received a call around 5:15 p.m., regarding an unmanned boat in the Diascund Reservoir.
The Departments began a search with assistance from York Fire & Life Safety and Sheriff’s Office, VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and Med-flight that Sunday evening. The search was suspended at 8 p.m.
JCC Police and Fire Departments resumed the search on Monday around 8 a.m. with assistance from New Kent Sheriff’s Office and Marine Sonic.
70-year-old James Jackson, Jr., who had been out fishing, was identified as missing from the boat, according to police.
Jackson’s body was recovered by crews at approximately 11:25 a.m. Monday and was taken to the Tidewater Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Jackson was not wearing a life jacket, according to police.
