Two displaced after Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Two adults have been displaced after a fire in the 1300 block of Virginia Avenue.

Crews arrived at the scene at 7:58 p.m. to find a one story residential structure with heavy smoke emanating from the front door. As firefighters entered the home and began to extinguish the fire, the home’s conditions degraded, forcing crews to exit and temporarily go on the defensive.

Firefighters then reentered the home and were able to bring the fire under control at 8:48 p.m.

No injuries have been reported. The displaced residents are making their own lodging arrangements.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
