WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Police and rescue crews are on scene of a fatal vehicle crash Friday night.

The crash happened on Monticello Ave., and Ironbound Road around 9 p.m.

State Police say a 2011 Dodge Avenger was speeding on Monticello Avenue when it went through an intersection and hit a 2005 Toyota Sienna van on the side.

The van was driving south on Ironbound Road at the time of the crash.

The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to hit a 2005 Mercedes Benz that was also driving southbound on Ironbound Road.

The driver of the Dodge Avenger, 40-year-old Leon Cowles, died at the scene. An 8-year-old passenger and a 10-year-old passenger were taken to Riverside Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say Cowles was not wearing his seat belt but the children were wearing their seat belts.

The driver of the Toyota van, 58-year-old Hamed Kamel Juma, died at the scene. His wife and two kids were sent to Riverside Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Everyone in the van was wearing their seat belts.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 62-year-old man, was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Before the crash, the driver of the Dodge Avenger drove away from a police officer who tried to pull him over in relation to an earlier incident.
