NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - U.S. Senator Tim Kaine was on the Peninsula Tuesday morning visiting The South-Eastern Family Project, an opioid/methadone treatment facility.
During his visit, Senator Kaine discussed how recent legislation will help address the opioid epidemic in Virginia.
Earlier this month, Congress passed the 21st Century CURES Act with strong bipartisan support to fund critical biomedical research, including the Cancer Moonshot Initiative and research on the opioid abuse crisis.
Senator Kaine toured the Newport News facility at 10 a.m. News 3 will also be in attendance.
