ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. - An airplane crashed near the Franklin Municipal-John Beverly Rose Airport.
It happened just after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A sergeant with Virginia State Police told News 3 the plane crashed in the woods just off of Route 258.
The pilot and passenger started to notice engine problems shortly after the plane took off and began to turn the plane around to return to the airport.
While trying to land the plane, they lost control and crashed into the woods.
The pilot and passenger were able to walk out of the plane with minor injuries.
Route 258 was closed for a little under a half hour.
The FAA is currently investigating the incident.
