NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are investigating after a body was found floating in a retention pond Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the Stoney Run Apartments in the 600 block of Cobblestone Circle around 9:45 a.m when a person walking her dog saw the body in the water.

On Monday, December 5, authorities identified the body as that of 22-year-old Alex Celante Harris of Newport News. His cause of death is drowning but the manner of death is still pending.
