Erick Lamont Jones has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Newport News Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection to a homicide that occurred November 15.

Police say 24-year-old Erick Lamont Jones has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony for the death of 23-year-old Kashawn Caleaf Miguel Cummings.

Cummings was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 14000 block of Penrith Lane on the afternoon of November 15. It was one of four homicides in four days in Newport News.

Jones has been taken to the Newport News City Jail.
