SUFFOLK, Va. – Smoke damage from a house fire displaced a family of six early Wednesday morning in Suffolk.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to the 100 block of Oakdale Terrace at 5:05 a.m.

Crews saw light smoke coming from the home, according to Battalion Chief William Kessinger.

The occupants of the home were evacuating as firefighters arrived. No one was injured.

The fire was confined to a small room at the front of the home. It was called under control at 5:41 a.m. The fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

The home sustained smoke damage throughout and the American Red Cross will be assisting the three adults and three children who have been displaced.
