NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have hired a new team president.

Michael Santos comes to the Admirals after previously serving as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, as well as being the Assistant General Manager of the Florida Panthers.

"We need to let people know we're here," Santos said in an interview with News 3. "I think the organization has been silent in this town for too long."

The Admirals, off to a 1-7 start this season, rank second to last in the ECHL in average attendance per game.

"That's one of our priorities," Admirals owner Ardon Wiener of becoming more engaged with the community. "Changes will be made in that sense."

Santos arrives in Norfolk on Monday and will assume his new role immediately.
