The Department of Elections online voter registration system is experiencing high activity levels, causing it to slow down.

The site has also been unresponsive at times.

The department is working to make changes to the registration site in order to allow voters to submit online registrations if they still need to.

The temporary changes will disable the ability to look at existing voter records or conduct other business on the site.

If you are trying to register and can not, the department asks that you give the site a few minutes and then try again.

The deadline to register to vote in Virginia is 11:59 p.m. Monday night.
