Virginia Beach elementary school student found safe after running into woods

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police say a child was missing from Lynnhaven Elementary School on Wednesday.

Police Dispatch got a call about the incident at 2:54 p.m. and police responded.

They found 11-year-old Eric Fletcher around 5:15 p.m.

The child was missing after he became irate in class and ran from the school into the woods.

News 3's Kelly Rule spoke with the parents of the boy who said they were very relieved he was found safe.

The parents said Eric was found on school property near trash dumpsters behind the school.

Eric's mom and dad did not know exactly what sparked him running off yet but they plan to speak with him to find out.
