VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A group opposed to light rail extending into Virginia Beach says someone disturbed a sand sculpture they created at the Neptune Festival this year.

"Do your own sand sculpture!"

That's the message Reid Greenmunn has for whoever partially ruined some of his hard work.

"I've never vandalized anybody's stuff. This was a lot of hard work and it's sad that if you don't agree with it, that you would just come down and ruin it," he said.

He's part of a group of people who are against light rail coming to Virginia Beach.

So, they decided to show how they feel way of Sandcastle and showed it off during Neptune Festival.

It reads "Not our future, our past. Please vote no light rail," but it didn't stay that way for long.

"They raked off the 3D letters we had," Jimmy Frost,  who is against light rail, told News 3.

Light rail has been a longtime debate in Hampton Roads.

Plenty of people want it to extend into the Beach, while others are very much against it.

To them, this act of vandalism is just another reason to vote against light rail in November.

"If anything, we would like people to vote no on light rail. This is what the people who are supporting light rail are willing to do to squelch our message," Frost said.
