Car destroyed after catching fire, garage damaged

Suffolk, Va – Fire officials say a man started his car around 4:00am then noticed it was on fire a short time later.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department responded to the home in the 1400 block of Shady Grove  Lane around 4:30am to find the vehicle, a 2007 BMWi with 30 day tags, fully engulfed.

The car was parked about six feet away from a detached garage that sustained heat damage to the vinyl siding.

The fire was called under control at 4:42am.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
