Police identify person of interest in Portsmouth homicide

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Detectives have identified a person of interest who may have information about a homicide that happened Sunday night.

According to detectives, the person of interest is not the suspect, but they believe she might have information regarding the fatal shooting.

Dispatchers in Portsmouth received a call at 10:07 p.m. about an unresponsive man who had been shot near the 7-Eleven at 3201 George Washington Highway.

Officer arrived to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Detectives have identified the victim as 37-year-old Adrian Smith.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
