HAMPTON, Va. – Fire investigators are on the scene of a house fire in Hampton, located in the 400-block of Clovelly Lane.
Investigators tell News 3 they are searching for human remains, however they do not believe anyone was at home when the fire started.
According to dispatchers, the call came in just before 1:00 am.
Investigators tell News 3 a female firefighter received minor heat-related injuries, but she was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Three dogs were also rescued from the home, according to investigators. One dog was found in the backyard, and two dogs were taken out of the home.
Fire officials are not yet sure where the fire originated or the cause of the fire, but they tell News 3 most of the damage is on the backside of the home.
Officials say the house is a total loss, and the roof above the back bedroom collapsed inside.
Fire investigators are hoping more manpower and daylight can help this sift through at least one foot of debris as they continue the "significant investigation."
Officials are still trying to contact the owner or tenant of the home. If you know who that person is, please call the Hampton Fire Department dispatch line at (757) 727-6111.
