VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach has made the list of Runner’s World’s Top 50 Best Running Cities.

Coming in just under the halfway mark at number 26, Runner’s World credits boardwalk running as one of the resort city’s best attributes.

Virginia Beach is perfect for people who like to enjoy a beautiful view while running. The boardwalk at the oceanfront provides five miles of a scenic path along the Atlantic shoreline.

The city is also the perfect place to unwind after a long run, with plenty or restaurants, bars and other activities.

If boardwalk running isn’t your thing, Runner’s World recommends going to to First Landing State Park and follow the Cape Henry East Trail five miles to the boat ramp parking lot.

The city is also great for marathon runners, with events like the Shamrock Marathon in March and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in September.

Richmond, Virginia was ranked 28th on the list.
