VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The future of Club Embassy is unclear after a man was shot and killed there over the weekend.

The owners have surrendered their ABC license, according to the ABC public affairs department. They can no longer sell alcohol at the establishment on Virginia Beach Boulevard, but can later reapply.

Demetrius McCloud wasshot and killed inside the clubon Saturday morning. The club was packed that night for an event featuring the rapper Jeezy.

On Monday, workers were moving things out of the club as a police forensics unit sat outside. A reporter texted one of the owners, asking if the club would reopen. "Not really sure if I event would want to. It seems it's not the same," Steven Krever responded, citing the other owner, Seth Appelbaum. "Each generation seems worse than the next."

Neighbors say they sometimes can hear when the club closes for the night. "They're coming out of the club. They're coming up the street," said Pam Credle, who lives nearby. "Some of them would have conflicts. We heard a couple of drive-bys."

The club used to be called Aqua Lounge. Police released surveillance video from a shooting outside of the club last December.

"I can't blame that because there's a club up there that these kids are acting irresponsibly," said Credle. "I can't blame that on the club."

Police say they don't have any suspects or leads in Saturday's shooting. Anyone with information should call the crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
