TEQUESTA, Fla. – Police found a suspect biting off part of a victim’s face after a gruesome double homicide in Florida Monday night.

The Martin County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office responded to the home at 19000 SE Kokomo Lane around 9:20 p.m. after receiving a call from a neighbor who said he’d been stabbed while trying to break up a fight, reports WPTV.

The first deputy to arrive at the scene saw the suspect on top of the male victim in the driveway. The suspect was biting off parts of the man’s face, police said.

The deputy used a stun gun on the suspect, but it had no effect. A K-9 officer also bit him, but that didn’t stop him. Deputies eventually pried him off the man’s body.

Investigators found the victim’s wife dead in the garage. Deputies said the suspect and victims knew one another but were still trying to determine their relationship.

The neighbor who called 911 was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover, police said.
