Three people shot in early morning shooting at Newport News hotel

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Three people have non-life threatening injuries after being shot at the Magnuson Hotel and Convention Center, located at Oyster Point in the 1000 block of Omni Boulevard.

According to dispatch, the call came in Sunday at 12:17 a.m.

Officers arrived at the hotel and found a woman on the first floor with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The woman was taken to the hospital by medics.

Police were later notified that another woman arrived at an emergency medical facility with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Finally, the third victim, a man, arrived at a hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. A fourth victim received a non-life threatening injury that was not from gunfire.

A preliminary investigation showed that the first victim delivered pizza to a room on the first floor of the hotel and as she was about to leave, gunfire broke out. The customer that received the pizza pulled the victim into the room and closed the door.

The second and third victims did not cooperate with police and refused to speak with the investigator.
