Arkansas deputy killed in gunfight

Sebastian County, Arkansas, Deputy Bill Cooper died from a gunshot Wednesday after being wounded in a standoff with a barricaded gunman that began after a 911 call about a domestic confrontation.

The alleged gunman, Billy Monroe Jones, who engaged police in a firefight with an assault-style rifle for hours, eventually surrendered, Sheriff Bill Hollenbeck announced at 4 p.m.
