CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A flash mob breaks out at this dance class much to the surprise of the teacher, Sunday Gallagher Strange who was getting ready to teach her Friday Zumba dance class.

Regulars to her class organized the flash mob to surprise Sunday for her 47th birthday, with balloons and all. They even had special T-shirts made in her honor and prepared a special dance.

The manager of the Taylor Bend YMCA in Chesapeake tells me Sunday’s class is their most popular class. But these folks don’t just come here to dance.  They show up for Sunday’s sermon three days a week.

“She is the most inspiring, encouraging, uplifting, unselfish lady who unconditionally give of her time and promotes love and acceptance of everybody," said Bonnie Key.

When asked what she wanted for her birthday a few weeks ago, she asked the class to perform 47 acts of kindness and that would make her happy.

"It doesn’t have to be something big just little acts that make a difference in someone’s day.”

Sunday’s students tell me that giving is  a way of life for the fitness instructor. In the past she’s organized fundraisers for fire victims and for those who are less fortunate.

Her motto is dance with purpose and it seems to be contagious.

And we had one more surprise for her when we presented her with a People Taking Action award and a $300 gift card courtesy of Southern Bank,

Sunday gives the credit to her students, “These are the people here that make this all happen I just play the music they spread the love.”

Bonnie Key is the one who nominated Sunday for the award.
