Deputies search for suspect who decapitated dog in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER Co., Va. - Deputies are asking for help to find out who entered a home and decapitated the homeowner's dog in the middle of the night.

According to the family, the dog was a 14-year-old Pomeranian that only weighed about three pounds.

The incident happened in the 7900 Block of Gum Neck Landing Road during the overnight hours between July 27 and July 28.

According to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, someone entered the residence and decapitated the homeowner’s pet dog.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the incident.

The family tells News 3 they do not know who would do something like this or why.

Nothing else in the residence was disturbed or stolen.

A necropsy was performed on the dog.
