NAGS HEAD, N.C. – A 66-year-old Pennsylvania man died after being hit by a truck Saturday evening.
William Koller was riding his bike across South Virginia Dare Trail at around 8:25 p.m. when he was hit by a Dodge pick up truck traveling in the southbound lane.
The driver of the truck, 48-year-old Todd Sheffield of Virginia, was unable to avoid Koller as he was driving, according to the Nags Head Police Chief.
Koller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The incident is being investigated, but no charges are expected to be filed against Sheffield at this time.
