CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A pile of recycling metal caught fire Monday night at Sims Metal, according to the City of Chesapeake.
The fire, in the 4300 block of Buell Street, was reported just before 9:15 p.m.
The fire took several hours extinguish because heavy equipment had to be used to break down the pile in addition to the water application.
The fire was declared to be out at 2:45 a.m. Units cleared the scene around 4:30 a.m.
Captain Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department says the cause of the fire is undetermined.
