NORFOLK, Va. - Pokemon have made it to Norfolk Botanical Garden, and to celebrate, officials invited residents out for a Pokemon GO party on Saturday.
Officials for the botanical garden said since they announced their Pokemon GO party, they have seen a major uptick in visitors coming to the gardens, including age groups that they don’t typically see.
They told News 3 the garden is not only a great place to catch Pokemon, because of all the trails and foliage that they have, but it is also taking people out of their phones, and allowing them to learn about some new plants and enjoy the wildlife.
“Overnight, 700 people were interested on Facebook,” Evan Lambert, public relations coordinator for the garden told News 3. “We just couldn’t have predicted just how many non-members would come in.”
Officials at Norfolk Botanical Garden told News 3 they plan to do another party once the app comes out with new upgrades.
