CLEVELAND, OHIO — Republican Delegates return to the floor of the Quicken Loans Arena Tuesday for the second day of the Republican National Convention. Tonight’s theme, “Make America Work Again.”
Speakers tonight will focus on jobs, trade, and the middle class. Donald Trump supporters will work to paint the candidate as someone who will “fight for American workers, lower taxes for working Americans, get the economy growing and businesses hiring.”
Tuesday’s list of speakers will include high profile politicians and business people. At least two former 2016 candidates will deliver remarks. Dr. Ben Carson and Gov. Chris Christie (R- New Jersey) are both scheduled to appear on stage alongside Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White and CEO Andy Wist.
The Trump family will return to the spotlight again following Melania Trump’s headline speech on Monday. No word yet if Donald himself will make another appearance on stage to introduce his children Tiffany and Donald Trump Junior.
Melania Trump’s convention speech has already received criticism for mirroring First Lady Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic Convention speech. But, the return of another “Dump Trump” protest on the floor, like the one Former Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli took part in Monday, seem increasingly unlikely.
In a show of party unity Congressional leaders will also lay out the Republican Platform on-stage. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan are both appearing Tuesday to support Donald Trump despite continued disagreements over Trump’s immigration policies and proposed ban on Muslims.
