Portsmouth, Va – As a part of Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Morales’ Future Leaders Initiative, 40 young ladies are now “Junior Commonwealth’s Attorneys.”

Tuesday marked the first Summer Shadow Day where children and teens up to age 17 were invited to spend the day shadowing the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office and learning about the Criminal Justice System and judicial process in court.

“Our young people are the future leaders of our communities and our legal justice system. I believe it is imperative that all leaders spend time fostering their development. I am proud that our office has worked with over 80 Junior Commonwealth’s Attorneys and interns since I have taken office and I look forward to engaging with many more” says Commonwealth’s Attorney Morales.

At the end of the day of learning, all of the young ladies are regarded as “Junior Commonwealth’s Attorneys.”
