York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Sergeant rescues fawn

YORK COUNTY, Va. – A York-Poquoson Sergeant went beyond the badge Sunday evening.

Sgt. Cooper saved a small fawn wandering near Route 17.

“I heard her crying and by the time I found her she was about to walk in front of several vehicles on Route 17. Luckily I found her in time,” Sgt. Cooper said.

The fawn’s mother was hit by a car the previous day.

Sgt. Cooper put the fawn in his car, turned on the head and waited for Animal Control to take the fawn to the emergency vet clinic.

The animal will released to an animal rehabilitation center.
