Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Tracking rain and storms…. We will see a mix of sun and clouds today with a few isolated showers/storms this morning. Rain and storm chances will increase through the day, with our highest chances this evening and tonight. Severe weather is not expected today but some storms could drop heavy rain with lightning. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s.

***NOTE: I received a comment this morning saying, “Severe weather is not expected today but some storms could drop heavy rain with lightning. Seems a bit contradictory.” Hopefully I can clear things up a bit.

Rainfall and/or lightning do not determine if a storm is severe.
A storm can have plenty of rain and lightning (a strong storm) but not be “severe”.
In order for a thunderstorm to be considered severe, it must create at least one of the following: Hail that is one inch in diameter or larger, Winds of 58 mph or greater, Tornado

Back to the forecast…

More scattered showers and storms will be possible on Thursday as an area of low pressure moves through the area. Some storms could be strong to possibly severe. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s. On Friday, the low will drag a cold front through the area, giving way to even more scattered showers and possible storms. Our severe threat will drop for Friday. Highs will cool into the upper 70s.

Right now, the Father’s Day Weekend is looking mainly dry under partly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the mid and upper 70s.

Today: Partly Sunny, Scattered Showers/Storms(40%). Highs in the low to mid 80s. Winds: SE 5-10

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy, Scattered Showers/Storms(50%). Lows in the low 70s. Winds: S/SW 5-10

Tomorrow: Partly Sunny, Scattered Showers/Storms(40%). Highs in the mid 80s. Winds: W/N 5-15
