Chesapeake, Va. (WTKR) - Chesapeake is looking at ways to make trash collection a bit more efficient.

The Public Works Waste Management Division is starting a collection route optimization project using "RouteSmart Technologies."

It is used to reconfigure existing garbage collection route in order to make them more efficient.

The first results from the project are expected at the end of the month, but it will take a few months to test the new recommended routes before a full conversion.

Right now it is unknown is any areas will see a change in their collection day as a result of the project, but if so, the city plans to notify residents in advance.
