VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A missing Yorkshire Terrier is back home after his owner's house was broken into.

Bailey is back at his mother's side, but his mom didn't know where he was for more than a day.

It all started Monday morning when someone broke into the woman's home off of Lynnhaven Parkway.

The woman was very worried about what happened and didn't want to be identified.

Her alarm went off as the person broke into the home, and the person quickly left.

Police responded, but her dog Bailey was the only thing missing.

"The only thing I could notice that was missing is my baby, you know, where's Bailey?" the victim said.

She called his name, but no response.

"I was a ball of mess, just crying because I was like, I was really worried they had taken him," she said.

Someone found the dog at about 9 p.m. on Monday in a neighborhood across Lynnhaven Parkway, where the woman lives. She says she's not sure how Bailey got across such a busy road.

Fortunately, Bailey isn't hurt.

Bailey's owner isn't sure if someone stole the dog and then left it, or if it got loose during the break-in.

She wants police to catch the person who broke into her home.

Police reports show someone also broke into another nearby home that same morning.

Joseph Fischer says nothing was taken from his home as his alarm went off.

A neighbor caught a white pickup truck on surveillance video at about the time of the break-in. The vehicle description is also listed for the break-in at the woman's home.

"It's your home. it should be your safe space and when that gets violated its really unfair actually," Fischer said.

The woman said her dog has a microchip, so folks at the SPCA were able to identify the dog and reunite the two.

Neighbors tell News 3 police will be back at their homes on Wednesday to look at surveillance video again.
