VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday around 10:30 p.m., leaving a boy injured.

Officers were called to the 5500 block of Baccalaureate Dr. where they located a large group of people who had just left a party in the area.

Police determined that several shots had been fired between unknown suspects and a male juvenile had been hit by gunfire.

Neighbors told NewsChannel 3 he was hit in the arm. According to police, the boy's injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

Residents who were home at the time of the incident said the shots rang out after two girls got into a fight during a party. They said dozens of high school-aged kids were outside at the time and a white Ford Explorer was seen leaving the scene.

At least two windows of parked cars were shot out during the incident.

Police said the suspect(s) may have been riding in a white SUV or gold or silver Lexus and may have been at the party earlier in the evening.
