NORFOLK, Va. – TSA officers caught the third handgun at Norfolk International Airport in this month alone.
The gun was a semi-automatic handgun loaded with 12 bullets.
TSA officers stopped a man at a checkpoint and detected a gun in his carry-on bag Friday afternoon. The X-ray machine detected the gun as it passed along the conveyor belt inside the man’s carry-on bag.
The Norfolk Airport Authority Police confiscated the gun and gave the man a citation on a state weapons charge.
A man was stopped by TSA officers at a checkpoint with a 9 mm handgun on April 10 and a woman was caught with a .380 caliber firearm on April 21.
