Chesapeake, Va. – Two Chesapeake schools were placed on a brief, precautionary lockdown on Wednesday morning while Chesapeake Police officers chased down two people.
Police say an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on the Chesapeake Expressway near Hanbury Road around 9:40 a.m. for a traffic infraction but the driver refused to stop.
The officer followed the vehicle to the 200 block of Christa Drive where they stopped and the driver and passenger ran from the car.
Police surrounded the area, eventually apprehending the subjects near the intersection of Battlefield Boulevard and Millville Road.
During the search, Great Bridge Intermediate School and Great Bridge High School were placed on a lockdown.
The incident remains under investigation.
