VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A frightening ordeal for one Virginia Beach family had a happy ending Monday.
Two Virginia Beach police officers took action to help a little girl after her dad was involved in a car crash.
Chris Thralls had been on his way to pick up 5-year-old Jadalynn from school when a car slammed into his.
When MPO E.O. Diaz and his partner Officer T. Hall pulled up to his mangled van, they found him more concerned about his daughter waiting on him at school, so the officers took action.
"They just offered to help. I didn't even have to ask," said Thralls. "I put her booster in the back of the police car and they went over there to pick her up."
Five-year-old Jadalynn was thrilled by her ride in the police cruiser, but the trip didn't end there. She got another treat from Diaz on the way back to the crash scene - a Slurpee from the 7-Eleven nearby.
An afternoon that turned out to be a treat for both of them.
"She stole my heart, just adorable," said Diaz, "This is the best part of this job."
"I love him," Jadalynn said of her new friend.
