SUFFOLK, Va. - Tidewater Motorcycles is taking a recent theft from their shop into their own hands. The shop owners, Pam and Brian Mathis,  posted on their Facebook page that someone stole their grill and propane tank.

They use the grill for their Chili Dog Socials to raise money for local and national charities.

Since their property was stolen, the bike shop owners have made a sign outside their shop for the thieves to see. It reads "Dear Thief, We used that grill to raise money for charities. Sleep well."

"I just want the person who took it to think about the next time they look at something and think they want to take it home with them," Pam Mathis told NewsChannel 3.

Since it was stolen, several people have reached out on Facebook and offered to donate a new grill, but the Mathis' are turning the offers down.

All they want is to get their message across.

"We are not a charity. We appreciate it, and it means a lot to us. I would rather they take what they're going to give to us and give it to someone who needs it," the couple told NewsChannel 3.
