Local non-profit organization Operation Blessing International’s disaster relief team is on the ground in Japan providing relief efforts after the recent 7.1-magnitude earthquake.

The earthquake occurred April 16 in Japan’s Kyushu island, the same region a magnitude 6.2 quake struck on April 14.  Nearly 50 people were killed by the disasters.

Operation Blessing Japan’s Shigenori Yuke wrote a blog post on the organization’s website saying their team purchased supplies, including generators, water, food and hygiene items and headed for their partner church, Kumamoto Harvest Church in Kumamoto City.

There they dropped off the generators and supplies for distribution before heading to a nearby emergency shelter to deliver safe drinking water.

Their efforts to aid survivors are continuing. Click here if you would like to donate.
