Get to know the Norfolk mayoral candidates

NORFOLK, Va. – Three candidates are vying for the position of Norfolk Mayor, being vacated by Mayor Paul Fraim.

Fraim announced in October that he would not seek reelection after 22 years as mayor of the City of Norfolk.

Kenny Alexander is a state senator who previously served in the House of Delegates beginning in  2002. He grew up in Norfolk and is a business owner, operating Metropolitan Funeral Home.

Bob McCabe is currently the Norfolk Sheriff, a position he has held since 1994.  He is a lifelong Norfolk resident who served in the U.S. Navy before working in law enforcement, including 12 years with the Norfolk Police Department.

Andy Protogyrou is a Norfolk native and member of Norfolk City Council, where he has served since 2010. He is an attorney and has served as a substitute judge.

The election will take place on May 3.
