VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Melissa Clark and her four children have been missing their dad since November when he deployed with the US Navy.

For the Clark family, this is their 7th and final deployment but that does not make it any easier. During the Month of the Military Child they spoke to NewsChannel 3 about the pros and cons of having a sailor for a dad.

Maintenance Master Chief Chuck Clark cannot be home with his family for the time being so they have been making the most of it by bringing a cut out of his head to their cheerleading competitions and school functions. They have used #DeployedCheerDad and #FunnyFatheadFather to help keep track of all the places they wish he could be.

Kayla Clark said her dad is her hero and when he is gone they try to email and video chat with him as much as possible, counting down the days until he returns.

Sarah Clark said her class got a chance to write letters to deployed heroes and she was able to send a special note to her dad.

Although Maintenance Master Chief Clark was not home for Christmas, the family said they are looking forward to June and the day that he returns home.
