Virginia Beach, Va. - A Virginia Beach man charged with killing his wife just two days before Mother's Day was in court on Monday.

51-year-old James White was charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony.

On Monday, all of those charges were certified to a grand jury.

White was not only charged with his wife's murder in May 2015, but according to court documents, he shot and killed his wife in front of their children.

Court records say White then shot at their son, Keshawn Brown, before shooting at police.

Those close with White, and his wife, Bridgette White, say they two had their martial problems, but never imagined it would end up with one of them dead and the other behind bars.

Whites charges will be heard by a grand jury on May 2nd. A grand jury decides whether or not the case will move forward into circuit court.
